As an entrepreneur, setting a routine for yourself can be difficult. If you work from home, it is especially difficult to focus on on your work and not get distracted by household tasks.
There are certain everyday practices that you have to establish in order to work smarter, not harder. I have my routine on my phone calendar every day, and I have my phone set to alert me when it’s time for the next task in my routine. This is my daily schedule, and I hope it helps you be more productive!
Have a regular sleep schedule
My alarm goes off at 8 am every morning, and my phone buzzes at 10:45 pm to tell me to go to bed every night for a full nine hours of sleep (I know, this seems like a lot, but my body functions best on eight to nine hours). When you have a regular sleep schedule, you have more energy and your quality of sleep is better.
Hit the gym
If you had asked me even a year ago if I wanted to go to the gym, I probably would have laughed at you. I started going to the gym every day. Taking that hour a day for myself made such a difference. I feel horrible when I skip the gym, and I find it makes a huge difference in my energy and productivity. Find a routine or fitness plan that works for you whether it be yoga, Zumba, or boot camps.
Eat Healthy Food
I recently started doing Whole 30, and I feel amazing. The first few days were tough as my body detoxed, but now I feel so good. However, I have to eat a healthy meal or snack every few hours to maintain my energy and ensure I don’t have major blood sugar crashes. I schedule my meals into my calendar so that when I get super focused on work, I don’t forget to eat.
Work on your business!
Again, this is scheduled into my calendar so I know that those are my dedicated working times, and so I don’t get distracted and put off my business. You can be more specific with your time blocking (writing “respond to emails” or “write blog posts”), but I personally just want to make sure that I do something for my business every day.
Clean your space
Every night, I take 15-30 minutes to clean up my space. I tidy up whatever mess I made during the day, put away laundry, and vacuum. By doing this every night, I make sure that I can start my next day with a clean space that’s ready to be productive.
Shower, unwind, and get ready for bed
I don’t want to forget to practice self-care by telling myself that I’m too busy. I shower or take a bath, and make sure to take care of my body. I take my vitamins and read a book before going to bed.
